Palimpsest - April 2025
A Photography, Sculpture, Visual Studies, and Printmaking BA & BFA Exhibition
Here at Aunt Marcia’s, makers Reagan Austin, Irlanda Beltran, Maxwell Briggs, and Christy Prater engage in a dialogue that rejects the logic, reason, and prized aesthetics of contemporary socio-political structures. Instead, they carve out new pathways to deconstruct restrictive narratives, uncovering layers of identity and self-awareness through reflections on the past.
The pieces act as both a veil and a mirror—concealing, revealing, and transforming notions of self. Identity is fluid, shifting between external perception and internal truth. The artists challenge you to consider your presence within this space: Who are you beneath the constructs of tradition? What stories do you carry? What relics of your existence remain?
We invite you to step inside, to pause, to see yourself within these works—within the masks, the imprints, the echoes of history—relics of personal and collective memory waiting to be unearthed.
